Kansas City will be full of The Oranje army this Thursday as the Netherlands compete for the top spot in Group F by playing a pitiable Tunisia side that lies at the bottom of the pile with zero points.
After being held to a tie in their opening group game, the Netherlands sprung into life last time out against Sweden, putting away a whopping five goals, playing some hugely impressive front-footed soccer. They should now be capable of battering sorry opposition.
Looking at the early lines, it’s worth betting on a combination of a Netherlands win and a Cody Gakpo goal. The forward has hit form at this World Cup, and given his efforts last time out, he ought to do some serious damage against a poor Tunisian defense.

Tunisia - Netherlands: Form Analysis

It’s been a World Cup to forget for the Tunisians, who have simply not competed, despite having numerous players playing at a very good club level. First time out against the Swedes, they were on the back foot throughout and really struggled to offer any sort of defensive resistance. The same can be said for their most recent effort against the Japanese, while in that game, they also looked appalling in the final third, creating nothing.
The shackles definitely came off in the final third, with the men in orange delivering a much improved offensive effort.
The Netherlands didn’t play badly in that first game against Japan, but they were a little subdued at times offensively, plus they didn’t keep it too tight at the back. Defensively, they didn’t exactly improve against Sweden, but the shackles definitely came off in the final third, with the men in orange delivering a much improved offensive effort. If they repeat that here, they’ll win comfortably.

Tunisia & Netherlands Squad Analysis
Emergency head coach Herve Renard, who was brought in after the first group game, didn’t get a reaction out of the Tunisians against Japan, and he may now be looking to switch up the team. Mohamed Ben Hamida could return to the starting XI, while there could be a first start of the tournament for forward Firas Chaouat.
Crysencio Summerville was forced off with a head injury late in the game last time out and could miss this match.
The Netherlands won’t be looking for a huge shake-up here, especially as head coach Ronald Koeman knows that a win would likely see them top the group. The in-form Cody Gakpo is expected to be a key player once again, while Brian Brobbey, who scored twice having been brought into the starting XI ahead of the previous game, should feature from the outset too. Crysencio Summerville was forced off with a head injury late in the game last time out and could miss this match.

Our Tunisia vs Netherlands Prediction
With 13 goal attempts produced since the start of the warm-up matches, and seven in the first two World Cup games, Cody Gakpo has been the Netherland’s most prolific in front of goal. There’s no reason for this momentum to stop now, facing this campaign’s worst defensive team, conceding nine goals in two matches. A confident forward like Gakpo should be able to run rings around such a deflated team.
Similarly, such a huge contrast in both team’s offensive displays so far are very telling, with Koeman’s side netting seven compared to Tunisia’s one. Tunisia’s efforts to change managers one game into the World Cup have yet to take effect, with Renard’s new team losing four goals to zero against Japan in his first game in charge.
Our Tunisia vs Netherlands Pick: Cody Gakpo to Score and Netherlands to Win.
