Tristan Schoolkate of Australia will be eyeing an upset against former ATP top-10 Denis Shapovalov of Canada in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Los Cobos Open.
Schoolkate reached his third straight quarterfinal appearance after earning a win over an ATP top-100 player in Daniel Altmaier 6-3 6-4. Schoolkate, who also reached the final eight at the Cary and Newport Challenger, held all his serves and broke twice to keep Altmaier at bay. Shapovalov cruised past Govind Nanda of the United States to reach the quarterfinal 6-1 6-2. The former world’s No.1 outclassed the 405th ranked Nanda by winning five breakpoints while conceding only one service break. Shapovalov scored 23 points as a returner, which essentially broke Nanda’s spirit.
