Saturday evening's Premier League mathcup is a blockbuster London derby between Europa League winners Spurs and Wold Club champions Chelsea.

Chelsea have held the upper hand in recent contests against their London rivals, losing just one of the last 18 games between the two sides.

Last season's game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw the Blues claim a remarkable 3-4 victory despite falling 2-0 down in the first ten minutes. Two Cole Palmer penalities, plus goals from Enzo Fernandez and Jadon Sancho ,turned the game on its head, and despite a late strike from Son Heung-Min, Chelsea held on for a fammous victory.

The last time Spurs tasted success against their neighbours was in the 2022/2023 season, when goals from Oliver Skipp and Harry Kane gave the home side a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Tottenham - Chelsea: Form Analysis

Spurs have struggled mightily at home this season, and have now picked up just one point from their last three Premier League games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, Thomas Franks's men have been far better on the road, winning four of their five away games so far, including a resounding 3-0 success at Everton last weekend. That result moved Spurs up to third in the Premier League table, a highly encouraging start given their dreadful 17th place finish last season.

Inconsistent Chelsea

Last weekend's limp 1-2 loss at home to Sunderland means that Chelsea have now lost three of their last five Premier League games, a run that has seen them drop to ninth in the table.

Aside from a memorable 2-1 win over Liverpool at the start of October, Enzo Meresca's men have failed to replicate the form that saw them sweep to the Club World Cup title in the summer. Another defeat on Saturday could lead to some serious question marks over Maresca's future at the club.

Spurs' lengthy injury list is showing no sign of easing, and they will go into Saturday's game missing a number of key players. James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke remain long time absentees, severely reducing Thomas Frank's attacking options, whilst defenders Christian Romero, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie will be missing from the Spurs backline.

In addition, midfielder Yves Bissouma suffered a ligament injury whilst on international duty earlier this month and is expected to be out for several weeks.

Attacking dilema for Maresca

With forwards Liam Delap and Cole Palmer on the sidelines, Blues boss Enzo Maresca is struggling to find his ideal attacking lineup. The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Joao Pedro and Estêvão have all shown flashes of attacking quality without nailing down starting places, and until Maresca can find a settled attacking combination, it is hard to see Chelsea mounting a serious title challenge.
