The Toronto Blue Jays (12-10 SU, 12-10 ATS) start a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals (13-9 SU, 13-9 ATS), having won their past four consecutive series. The Blue Jays have dominated this series as of late, winning six straight meetings with the Royals and going 6-1 against them last season.
Kansas City opens this series with Brady Singer, who has been the Royals’ best pitcher in 2024. Singer owns a 2-0 record and a 1.54 ERA, and his team is 4-0 with him on the hill. However, it’s not yet certain if Singer has really improved or if he’s just been facing bad opponents. Three of his four starts have come against Minnesota and the Chicago White Sox, the two weakest hitting teams in baseball.

Toronto counters with Yusei Kikuchi, who has mostly been effective in 2024. Kikuchi has given up just one run in each of his past two starts and allowed five runs for the entire season. The Jays' offense is more middling; their results tend to follow the pitching over the hitting.
Kansas City is off to a fine start record-wise, but the Royals’ record feels a little deceptive. Out of Kansas City’s 13 victories, 10 of them have come against teams that are well under .500. As the schedule gets harder, the Royals are likely to come back to earth. With Singer not having faced a tough lineup this year, this looks like the time to fade him and take advantage of overreactions to his early start.
