The Toronto Blue Jays will go for the sweep today in their four-game series vs. the Tigers in Detroit at Comerica Park. This battle between two AL division leaders is scheduled to get underway at 1:40 p.m. EST.

Detroit has gotten off to a poor start in the second half of the season, losing two of three to the Rangers in Texas before getting swept by the Pirates in Pittsburgh. The blame can’t be placed solely on the pitching or the hitting. In seven of nine games since the break, the lineup generated two runs or less. At the same time, opposing teams have scored 4+ runs in six games. Max Scherzer is scheduled to start for the Blue Jays on the mound. Scherzer is 1-0 this season in six starts with a 5.14 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and .257 OBA. He has only had two road starts this season and has gone 1-0 with a 4.91 ERA on the road and a .262 OBA. Jack Flaherty will start for the Tigers. Flaherty is 5-120 this season in 20 starts with a 4.77 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and .233 OBA. He has gone 3-5 at home in 11 starts with a 3.71 ERA and .195 OBA.
