Texas will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard when they take on the Blue Jays in Toronto at the Rogers Centre today at 1:37 p.m. EST. The Blue Jays will be going for the sweep after winning the opener on Friday, 6-5, and dominating the Rangers yesterday, 14-2.
However, winning today will not be an easy task. The Rangers will be handing the ball to Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi is 10-3 on the season in 20 starts with a 1.71 ERA. .88 WHIP, and .196 OBA. He has been especially lethal on the road, where he is 7-3 in ten starts with a 1.26 ERA and .193 OBA. In an early-season start at home, he pitched two shutout innings vs. the Blue Jays. But the Blue Jays have had a surprising amount of success vs. Eovaldi with a .362 BA against the ace (50-138). As for Toronto, they’ll turn to Jose Berrios. He is 9-4 in 25 starts with a 3.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and .244 OBA. At home, he is 4-1 in 12 starts with a .245 OBA. The Rangers lineup has hit .270 against him in 63 at-bats (17 hits, three home runs).

But Eovaldi has been one of the hardest pitchers to hit in the league this season. However, while Berrios has not been as dominant, against a Texas lineup struggling to make contact, he doesn’t have to be. I want to think Eovaldi can help the Rangers get back on track and like the plus money odds the Rangers ML has at some books, but the best bet for this game is the TOTAL.
