The Cleveland Guardians will try to clinch the AL Central title on Sunday in Game 3 of their series against the Texas Rangers at Progressive Field.

The Guardians opened as the favorites despite carrying a 1-4 record in their last five meetings with the Rangers.

After absorbing back-to-back losses to Detroit 2-4 and Texas 3-7, the Guardians got back into the winner’s column after edging the Rangers 3-2 on Saturday. The win has allowed Cleveland to hold on to the No.1 spot in the AL Central despite sharing a similar 87-74 record with the Tigers. Cleveland must win Sunday’s regular-season finale with the Rangers to clinch the division title. Cleveland wins their regular-season series against Detroit 8-5 to earn the tiebreaker in case of a tie.

Already eliminated from the playoffs, the Rangers will try to play the spoiler’s role in Cleveland’s bid to win the AL Central title on Sunday. Texas had won four straight head-to-head matches against the Guardians before dropping 2-3 loss on Saturday.
