The Sam Houston State Bearkats (0-6) will go for their first win of the season this week when they host the UTEP Miners (1-5) at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, TX. Kick-off for this Conference USA matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Fans can catch the game on CBSSN.

Despite giving up nearly 500 yards of offense, including 370 on the ground, the Bearkats were in a position to win last week against Jacksonville State. After taking a 27-26 lead with 47 seconds left, it looked like Sam Houston was going to get that elusive first win. But the Gamecocks just needed 47 seconds to get into position for a 52-yard field goal as time expired, giving Jacksonville State the win. As for UTEP, the Miners lost their fifth of the season and fourth in a row last weekend to Liberty, 19-8. The Miners could get nothing going on offense against the Flames and were behind 19-0 heading into the fourth. Early in the quarter, they finally had some success on offense and got on the board, closing the gap to 19-8. But a turnover on downs and an interception killed their last two drives of the game.
