Texas A&M got conference play off to a nice start with a win over Texas and then-No. 17 Oklahoma but then came crashing down to Earth with back-to-back losses against top ten Alabama and Kentucky teams. Since then, they’ve gone 7-1 in conference play and will take a five-game winning streak into this game. They last played on Valentine’s Day, beating Arkansas at home, 69-61. As for Mississippi State, they looked good during the non-conference part of their schedule, going 12-1. But they have found their SEC schedule a bit challenging this year. To be fair, of the 12 SEC games they’ve played, eight of them have been against ranked teams, including five vs. top ten teams. Of those eight, they won two, both vs. Ole Miss. But once they get past A&M, they’ll have just one more game against a ranked team (vs. No. 4 Alabama, Feb. 25).
