Leylah Annie Fernandez of Canada will battle the streaking Tereza Valentova of the Czech Republic in the women’s singles championship match of the 2025 Japan Open – Osaka.

Fernandez gets another opportunity to add another WTA title on Sunday when she locks horns with Valentova for the Japan Open title. The Canadian secured her spot in the championship match after downing Sorana Cirstea in a three-setter 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 on Saturday. Fernandez went back and forth with Cirstea, but still got the better of exchanges by capturing three of her six breakpoint conversions in the third set. Fernandez improved to 23-14 in hard-court matches in 2025.

Valentova punched her ticket to the final of the Japan Open after surviving another three-set tussle with Jaqueline Cristian of Romania 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. Valentova collected 40 points behind the first serves and added 20 more off her second serves to win 11 of 15 service games. The Czech also scored 45 return points against Cristian to secure seven breakpoint conversions. Valentova, who had also upset Olga Danilovic 4-6, 6-3. 6-3 in the quarterfinal, is eyeing for her first WTA main tour title on Sunday.
