Taylor Fritz of the United States will battle Lorenzo Sonego of Italy in easily one of the best third-round matchups at the 2025 Cincinnati Open on Monday.
Fritz, who reached the semifinal of the 2025 Canadian Open, is off to a great start in Cincinnati as he dispatched Emilio Nava 6-4, 6-4 in the second round. Fritz has won seven of his last nine matches since the start of the North American hard-court season. He’s 20-7 on the hard court and 37-14 across all surfaces this year.
Sonego also advanced to the round of 32 with a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory over Zizou Bergs of Belgium. The Italian dominated on the serve, holding 100 percent of his serves behind 36 first-serve points and 5 aces. Yet, despite his impeccable serving, Sonego had to fight for every point to pull away from Bergs.
