Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Taylor Fritz of the United States are set for an action-packed men’s singles semifinal match on Friday at the 2025 Wimbledon Open.
Alcaraz is two wins away from completing a Wimbledon three-peat after beating Cameron Norrie 6-2 6-3 6-3 on Tuesday. After dropping a set in his last two matches against Jan-Lennard Struff 6-1 3-6 6-3 6-4 and Andrey Rublev 6-7(5) 6-3 6-4 6-4, the Spaniard made sure he would earn the victory the quickest possible way, finishing off the Brit in straight sets. Alcaraz held all his serves for the first time in the tournament, winning 49 points off his first serves and firing 13 aces. He also converted 5 of 11 breakpoint opportunities, keeping Norrie at bay throughout the match.
Fritz will be making his first semis appearance at the All-England Club following a four-set win over Karen Khachanov of Russia 6-3 6-4 1-6 7-6(4). Fritz took a challenging road to the semifinals after overcoming two grueling five-set matches against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-7(6) 6-7(8) 6-4 7-6(6) 6-4 and Gabriel Diallo 3-6 6-3 7-6(0) 4-6 6-3 and earning four-set wins over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4 6-3 6-7(5) 6-1 and Khachanov.
