Fritz entered the fourth round of the 2025 Cincinnati Open after grinding out a hard-earned 7-6(4) 7-5 win over Lorenzo Sonego of Italy. Fritz held all his serves in the match, but Sonego also served well with only one service break conceded. In a match that could have easily gone the other way, the American leaned on his experience in high-leverage matches to secure the edge against an incredibly resilient Sonego.

Atmane gets a shot at a first ATP 1000-level quarterfinal appearance following an impressive straight-set win over the favorite, Joao Fonseca of Brazil, 6-3, 6-4 in the third round. Atmane, who also upset Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in the previous round, conceded only one service break to Fonseca while taking three breakpoints, two of which came in the second set. Atmane enhanced his 2025 hard-court record to 24-14.
