The Miami Hurricanes (6-2) will try to get back on track after losing to SMU last weekend, 26-20, when they host the Syracuse Orange (3-6). Kickoff for this ACC battle is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. ESPN will broadcast the game.
Although the losses have been disappointing, the Hurricanes are ranked No. 10 in the country, so they are not yet out of the playoff picture. However, another loss would likely push them out of contention. However, their remaining conference games are winnable (Syracuse, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Pitt). The ACC title game will be a challenge, but if they can get relatively healthy and clean up a lot of the mistakes on offense, they can compete with anyone. As for Syracuse, it has been a rough season for the Orange. They have struggled to generate offense, averaging 371 yards per game (79th in the country), and to turn those yards into points (23.7 points per game; 96th in the country). Defensively, they are giving up well over 400 yards of offense a game and 30.8 ppg.
Miami was a 12-point favorite last season against Syracuse, but the Orange pulled off a 42-38 upset.

I do not see this game playing out the way many analysts do. Syracuse has a decent passing game, but that’s it. They aren’t good at running the ball, and their defense can’t stop a high school scout team. Miami has one of the best defenses in the country; I don’t see Syracuse having much success, if any. The only problem here is Miami’s offense, which sometimes goes flat. However, when playing teams, they should blow out (i.e., Bethune-Cookman, Stanford), and they did. They also dominated a red-hot USF team early in the season (49-12).
Miami bounced back from its first loss by destroying a poor Stanford team. They’ll do the same against a poor Syracuse team.
