The Loyola Marymount Lions will try to close out the regular season in style tonight when they host the No. 23 Saint Mary’s Gaels at the Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles, CA. This West Coast Conference battle will get underway at 11 p.m. ET; fans can find coverage via CBSSN.
Loyola Marymount has had some ups and downs this season. They’ve had two five-game winning streaks, one vs. non-conference opponents and the other in conference play. But they only had one stand-alone loss. Otherwise, every loss was followed by one or two more. The Lions have lost five of their last seven games, with two wins against Pepperdine mixed in. As for Saint Mary’s, the Gaels have been on cruise control in conference play, going 15-1. The one defeat was a 65-64 loss to the Dons in San Francisco. With a 74-67 victory over Gonzaga last weekend, the Gaels have won five in a row.
When these two teams played earlier in the season (Jan. 7), Saint Mary’s dominated the contest en route to a 25-point victory, 81-56. The game was competitive in the first half as the Gaels took a 30-24 lead into the break. But the second half was all Saint Mary’s as they blew the Lions out of the water, 51-32.

Saint Mary’s will win this game; the only question is by how much. They’ve been a solid team against the spread in road games, but they’ve only 14-14 ATS this season. However, they have covered in most of their conference games (11 of 16). As for the TOTAL, 132.5 points does not seem like a lot, but while Saint Mary’s can probably be counted on to score in the mid-to-high 70s, it’s hard to know what we’ll get out of the Lions. I want to think they’ll try to put on a show in their last regular-season game, but I just don’t think they have it in them.
