St. Louis Blues vs New Jersey Devils Prediction & Picks - NHL

For the first time this season, the New Jersey Devils (14-7-1) will take on the St. Louis Blues (7-10-6). The Devils are currently in 2nd place in the Metro Division while the Blues are 2nd from the bottom in the Central Division.

St. Louis is struggling coming into this matchup as they have lost 5 of their last 6 games. They did snap a 4-game losing streak on Saturday with a 2-1 win over the Islanders but were quickly back to their losing ways on Monday with a 3-2 loss to the Rangers. The Blues are 1st in the league in total penalty minutes but in the bottom fourth in penalty kills. While they are 30th in the league in goals allowed, this number could be much higher if they were committing more penalties. They will need to continue their discipline while the offense hopefully comes around.

The Devils are coming off a 4-3 win over the Red Wings that snapped a 3-game losing streak. That was the first losing streak of the season for the Devils and keeping it to just 3-games is a positive for them. Obviously losing Jack Hughes was a blow to the team and the offense specifically. It is no shock that they were only able to score 4 goals over that 3-game losing stretch. They seem to have things figured out a bit after matching that total in that latest game.  

The Blues are going to try to keep the Devils from continuing back to their winning ways but will certainly need to stay out of the penalty box and put up more than the 2.65 goals they are currently averaging per game.
