Next Wednesday night will be a key date for the St. Louis Blues and the Chicago Blackhawks, teams from the Central Division that will clash for the chance to get closer to the playoffs’ spots in the Western Conference. With this in mind, it’s interesting that the bookies’ odds made the Blues slightly favorites to get the victory in this matchup, when the reality is that their offense has prevailed as one of the least effective in the league this season.

However, it cannot be easily forgotten that the St. Louis Blues were able to build a two-game winning streak over two very competitive teams like the Vegas Golden Knights and the Montreal Canadiens. Additionally, even though the Blues currently are three points behind the playoffs’ mark, they still rank as the fourth team in the Western Conference’s standings with the most regulation time victories this season (17).

Meanwhile, the Chicago Blackhawks have also collected some very interesting results during their most recent games, but the last couple of them required an overtime effort that could cause them to physically struggle sooner rather than later. Also, it’s relevant to note that the Blackhawks have scored more than three goals in only one of their last five games, so there aren’t big expectations around them to qualify for the playoffs by the end of the season.
