Spain and Portugal will clash in Matchday 1 of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 on Thursday night at Wankdorf Stadium. Spain is the massive favorite to top Group B, which also includes Italy and Belgium. The World Cup holders will be eager to go all the way, having crashed out in the quarterfinals against England three years ago. They could become the second women’s team in history to win the World Cup and Euros after Germany did it between 2001 and 2009.
Portugal, meanwhile, is among the underdogs to reach the knockout phase, with Italy and Spain being the favorites. This will be their third successful appearance on the continental stage, which is undoubtedly a respectable feat. Their qualification campaign was impressive, going unbeaten with eight wins in their 10 matches. According to Opta Supercomputer, they have a 34% chance of reaching the quarterfinals. Avoiding defeat against Spain will put them on the right path.
