Sorana Cirstea and Mary Stoiana will clash at the WTA event in Hong Kong during the early hours of Thursday morning. In the early betting, Cirstea is the clear favorite, and it's not overly difficult to see why. That said, she hasn't been at her fluent best in recent weeks, needing three sets to defeat a lower-ranked player during the first round. She may find this tougher than the early betting market predicts. 

If we glance at the rankings, we can be forgiven for assuming that Sorana Cirstea will make light work of this assignment. However, the Romanian has not been in great form of late, while Mary Stoiana has been operating above her current rank, so we shouldn't be too surprised if the American representative gets seriously competitive here. In fact, on all recent evidence, the lower-ranked player looks set to make this a tougher test for the world number 15 than the early odds would have us believe.
