Monday marks the beginning of a new tournament for WTA players. In fact, there are two tournaments taking place for those on the WTA this week. Here, we're focusing on action from Ningbo, China, where there's an all American clash between Sofia Kenin and McCartney Kessler. Neither one of these players enjoyed a particularly fruitful time in Wuhan last week. Both will surely be looking to improve here.
It's been a mixed bag from Sofia Kenin in recent weeks, with the player now ranked at 28th in the world often taking one step forward before stalling. McCartney Kessler, who is ranked five places below Sofia Kenin, is also struggling to build momentum in Asia. An interesting match awaits.

If we look at the early odds ahead of this clash, we can see that McCartney Kessler is quite strongly fancied to get the job done, though I'm not so sure that she should be such a favorite. I also wouldn't be surprised if she drifted in the betting before this one gets underway. In other words, betting on Sofia Kenin to come out on top may just offer some value for money. The higher-ranked player scrapped really well to beat Zakharova last week, before putting up a very decent fight against Samsonova, while Kessler has typically struggled in matches of this nature.
