Iceland takes on Slovenia on Tuesday, September 2, at the Spodek Arena in Poland.
The last time that these two teams faced was way back in the 2017 EuroBasket, when the Slovenians won, 102-75.
But Slovenia is having a disappointing start to this year's tournament. They lost their first two games to Poland and France, but bounced back nicely with an 86-69 victory over Belgium. Slovenia led by twelve after the first two quarters and maintained their lead the rest of the game.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic tallied an impressive triple-double of 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. He struggled from three-point territory (2-11 3P), but managed to get into the free throw line nine times. Sharpshooter Klemen Prepelic was the other double-digit scorer for Slovenia with his 12 markers.
On the other end, Iceland is yet to tally a win in three games. They're coming off an 84-75 loss to the hosts Poland. It was a close game and they had plenty of chances to mount a comeback, but a measly three-point performance (6-26 3P) spelled their doom.
Tryggvi Hlinason had himself an efficient outing, scoring 21 points on 81.8% shooting. He also added 10 rebounds and 3 assists to his tally.
