The grass-court action is rolling quickly at Wimbledon, and this Saturday, Italian Jannik Sinner will face Spain’s Pedro Martinez in the third round.

The 23-year-old Italian is likely feeling some frustration after his recent results since returning from suspension. He lost the Rome final to Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and then suffered another tough defeat against the young prodigy at the French Open in a memorable five-set final, despite leading by two sets early on. Those matches seem to have taken a toll, as Sinner was knocked out in the Halle quarterfinals on June 19 by world No. 31 Alexander Bublik.

However, Sinner has been especially strong in London, cruising through his first two rounds with wins over Luca Nardi (6-4, 6-3, 6-0) and Aleksandar Vukic (6-1, 6-1, 6-3). It’s hard to imagine the Italian dropping a set against a player he has already beaten.

Pedro Martinez lost to Sinner in straight sets in the 2022 Rome ATP tournament’s round of 32. He arrives at Wimbledon after a tough stretch on the ATP Tour, having exited in the first round of Hamburg, the French Open, Halle, and Mallorca. On Wimbledon’s grass courts, however, Martinez has started well, winning his opener against world No. 293 George Loffhagen and then defeating Argentine Mariano Navone in three sets to reach the third round.
