This Friday's Wimbledon semi-final clash between world number 1 Jannik Sinner and London's seven-time winner Novak Djokovic is a highly anticipated affair.
One month after his defeat in the final of the French Open, Jannik Sinner was eagerly awaited for this 2025 edition of Wimbledon. Although the Italian has been dominating the ATP circuit for several months now, his level of play on grass was still in question compared to the other top players. With just one victory to his name in the build-up to the tournament, the world number 1 arrived in the London suburbs without any real reference points. But thanks to his talent and the first few rounds, the Italian was able to slowly build his confidence as the days went by.
Jannik Sinner had no trouble whatsoever until the 2nd round, putting himself in steamroller mode. He gave up just over 5 games on average in the first 3 rounds against Italy's Luca Nardi, Australia's Aleksandar Vukic and Spain's Pedro Martinez, with an impressive level of play. However, the Italian almost bit the dust in the Round of 16 against Grigor Dimitrov. Beaten badly by the Bulgarian in the first two sets (lost), the world number 1 took advantage of his opponent's injury, forcing him to throw in the towel. A huge wake-up call for the Italian, who saw circumstances turn in his favor with a second chance in this tournament. This opportunity was seized in the quarter-final against Ben Shelton, with a 3-set victory in which the Italian showed himself to be the most solid player in the closing stages. Jannik Sinner will need to show this kind of solidity this Friday in the semi-final if he is to reach the final for the first time in his Wimbledon career.
At the age of 38, Novak Djokovic sees Wimbledon 2025 as his last chance to win a Grand Slam title. The London lawn has been the scene of some great performances by the Serb, with 7 trophies won, one less than the legend Roger Federer. A success on Sunday would put the Balkan tennis player on a level playing field, like a last dance for the man who dominated world tennis for so many years.
Ranked 6th in the world at the start of the tournament, Novak Djokovic has been stable from the very beginning of the fortnight, expending no unnecessary energy. After a masterful first 3 rounds against France's Alexandre Muller, Great Britain's Daniel Evans and his compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic, the Serb then had to work hard to dominate Australia's Alex de Minaur and Italy's Flavio Cobolli in the last 8 and 1/4-finals, defeated in 4 sets. The record holder of the most Grand Slam victories (24) has gradually come into his own, raising his level of play and will be ready for Friday's showdown with the world number 1.

Our Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Prediction
Novak Djokovic is at home in London, and beating him remains a difficult performance on English grass. The Serb may not have been as good as Jannik Sinner for two years now, but this surface gives him the best chance of beating him. The world number 1 has shown some weaknesses in his last two matches, and if the Italian doesn't raise his game, then Novak Djokovic could return to the final.
