A pair of top 10-ranked fighters from the welterweight division will meet on the main card of UFC 328 in Newark, NJ. Sean Brady (18-2-0) will likely have the backing of the fans against Joaquin Buckley (21-7-0). Brady is from Philadelphia, which is a short drive up to Newark. He will need more than the fans' support to get back to his winning ways.
Brady had been on a roll with a submission victory over Leon Edwards in March of 2025, being the peak of his young career. He was hoping for a title shot, but due to an extremely talented division, he was forced to fight the up-and-coming Michael Morales. He was finished in the 1st round of that fight. The lack of a stand-up striking game by Brady did him in against Morales, as it did in his only other previous loss, which was to Belal Muhammed. Now he faces another sensational striker in Buckley here.
Buckley is coming off a unanimous loss to Kamaru Usman in his last fight. Usman looked like a better version of himself from the last couple of years. Buckley fought off 9 of the 13 takedown attempts by Usman but was unable to keep the fight on the feet enough to use his striking advantage. He will need to do the same here against Brady, whose only path to victory would be getting Buckley to the ground. But that task will not be simple.

This is a terrible matchup for Sean Brady. Both Muhammad and Morales have extreme power in their hands and made Brady pay for the minimal time he tried to stand and exchange with them. He simply does not have the stand-up game it takes to set up the takedowns that give him an advantage. We like Buckley to throw some strong shots at him early and put him away before Brady gets him in trouble on the ground.
