The Major League Soccer postseason will get properly underway this weekend. This is where teams start to envisage themselves playing in the big one in around a month's time. Starting off their best-of-three series it's San Diego and the Portland Timbers, who somewhat strangely met on the final day of the regular season. On that occasion, it was easy work for the San Diego boys, who won by four goals to zero. Now back in front of their own fans, the hosts will be looking for a similar effort.
As for Phil Neville's visitors, well, what can they do? They'll need to defend better, but that's not going to be easy, so one way or another, the Timbers need to find a way of getting more seriously involved in front of goal. Scoring three goals in that shootout game against RSL since Decision Day will have at least installed some extra confidence into the men from Providence Park.
