Curiously, MLS newcomer San Diego FC will be the overwhelming favorite on Saturday to beat the Los Angeles Galaxy, the reigning MLS champions who are completely sunk, virtually out of the playoff race, and who haven't won a game in 13 attempts in any competition since their Concacaf Champions Cup victory on March 5.
The LA Galaxy played one of their best games of the season early in May against Sporting Kansas City, which they inexplicably ended up losing 1-0. Then, just when it seemed they could at least get a draw against the NY Red Bulls in a historic 7-0 victory, they followed that up with a 2-0 lead against the Philadelphia Union, losing 3-2 at Subaru Park, and a lackluster draw in the Clásico del Trafico against Los Angeles FC.
The LA Galaxy have already lost more than all the games they lost in 2024, and only a late goal and a great performance by German Marco Reus saved them from another defeat.
