The No. 9 seed Saint Louis Billikens will take on the No. 1-seed Michigan Wolverines in second-round action for the Midwest Region. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 21, at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY. CBS is scheduled to broadcast the game.
Saint Louis is coming off an unexpectedly dominant performance in their Tournament opener vs. the Georgia Bulldogs. The Billikens shot an incredible 58% from the field to 35% for the Bulldogs, en route to a 1072-77 victory. As for Michigan, it looked like they could be in danger of becoming the third No. 1 seed in Tournament history to lose in the first round. Howard stayed within striking distance in the first half and closed the gap to four points, 50-46, at the break. But then the Wolverines took over in the second half and won by a comfortable 21-point margin.
The Billikens hit nine of 28 3-pointers against the Bulldogs and dominated Georgia in the paint, 66-28. That will not be nearly as easy to accomplish against Michigan’s frontcourt. Saint Louis will need to take a page out of Howard’s playbook and create as many open looks from 3-point range as possible; Howard was 14-29 from 3-point range vs. the Wolverines.

Our Michigan Wolverines vs Saint Louis Billikens Prediction
Michigan strolled through the first round against Howard and still scored 100+ points and won by 21-points despite Howard hitting 14 of 29 3-pointers. Saint Louis was a 1.5-point underdog to Georgia, which would indicate a close game, but instead the underdog Billikens blew the Bulldogs out, 102-77. Both average around 87 points a game while allowing about 69. Michigan will dominate the paint; Saint Louis will dominate the 3-point line.
Who wins? That’s a good question. Michigan is a heavy favorite and could certainly use its size and athleticism to dominate this one. But if the Billikens get 12-15+ threes in this game (they average 11), this one could get interesting—and very high scoring.
Our Saint Louis vs. Michigan Pick: OVER 161.5
