A clash of styles is set for Wednesday in the second round of the French Open, as American Reilly Opelka takes on Argentina’s Mariano Navone.

Four years after his last win at Roland Garros, Reilly Opelka returned to winning ways on Monday, defeating Rinky Hijikata in four sets. It was a much-needed boost, both mentally and ranking-wise, for the world No. 93. The big-serving American hadn’t found much success on clay this season, suffering early exits in Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome. But Monday’s win validated the work he’s put in over the past few weeks, and he’ll be eager to test himself against a true clay-court specialist in Mariano Navone.

Navone has had a challenging few months, but reaching the second round in Paris and doing so as the favorite has been a confidence booster. Before arriving at Roland Garros, the Argentine posted solid wins over Félix Auger-Aliassime and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. In the first round, he took down the No. 28 seed, American Brandon Nakashima, with an impressive four-set performance. Now, the world No. 97 will look to reach the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
