by Carlos Zabala in Club World Cup Picks
The Club World Cup organizers' dream semifinal will take place on Wednesday at the gigantic Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey. Given the talent and prestige of PSG and Real Madrid, this match is set to attract the most bets that day. For now, the betting odds are set to be even, with PSG slightly favored. This will be the first PSG-Real Madrid match since their 2022 Champions League Round of 16 tie, a two-legged tie in which Real Madrid advanced 3-2 on aggregate. The match is also attracting special attention because it will be the first time Mbappé faces his former team.
Without a doubt, this match has the makings of an epic one. PSG arrives in the midst of the best season in its history, led by Luis Enrique, who has them playing the best football they've ever played, and they will face Real Madrid, the club with the most history and trophies in the world. "Los Merengues" also arrive with a renewed football, led by a new coach Xabi Alonso, and although he only managed Real Madrid in 5 matches, he already changed their playing system for the better, with one player more than the others benefiting from this: Vinicius Junior.

PSG - Real Madrid: Form Analysis
Luis Enrique's PSG already made historic records in the 2024/2025 period: They won Ligue 1 without any complications, as well as the French Cup and Super Cup. In the Champions League, they narrowly qualified for the knockout stage, but from there they improved beyond belief and eliminated Liverpool, the Premier League leaders and then favorites to win the Champions League, before defeating two other English teams, Aston Villa and Arsenal, in their wake. Then came the biggest thrashing in the history of a Champions League final against Inter to claim the title.
Therefore, claiming the Club World Cup would put Luis Enrique's team in the same conversation as clubs that have also achieved epic seasons in the past, such as Guardiola's Barcelona or Bayern Munich, who won it all.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid arrives, by its standards, lacking in terms of major titles. However, a new manager and new signings, along with playing the best football they've played in the last year and a half, make the Club World Cup within their reach. Winning this innovative tournament has been the main objective of the Real Madrid backbenchers since it was announced, and they have always been among the three teams with the best betting odds to win it.

PSG & Real Madrid Squad Analysis
Both teams will necessarily have to reconfigure their defenses, but it seems like a bigger blow for Madrid than for PSG, given the red cards they received in the quarterfinals.
Real Madrid will be without Huijsen, the 20-year-old center back and Madrid's new signing, who had played 90 minutes in every match of the Club World Cup. The Spaniard received a red card in the final moments of the last match against Dortmund. Huijsen will likely be replaced by Asencio. Otherwise, Madrid will rely on regular starters Bellingham and Valverde. Mbappé, who has trained less than his teammates due to his stomach illness, is expected to start on the bench again. This way, Xabi Alonso will avoid spoiling the good form of Gonzalo García, Madrid's revelation at this Club World Cup, who has already scored four goals.
A former Real Madrid player is having an excellent Club World Cup with PSG and is at the peak of his career: Hakimi. But the tournament of teenage sensation Doue is also noteworthy. Those who received red cards in PSG's 2-0 win over Byern Munich were Pacho and Lucas Hernandez; both will miss the semifinal, and Lucas Beraldo is the one called up to replace the Ecuadorian.

Our PSG vs Real Madrid Prediction
No doubt, whatever the result, it will be a historic duel. Both teams are on very similar paths at the Club World Cup. PSG slipped up against Botafogo but performed excellently otherwise. Real Madrid had a weak performance against Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia in their debut, but from then on, they improved in the tournament.
However, it will be a game for Asensio to test himself again. He didn't have a good performance at the Club World Cup as a center-back, but Xabi Alonso has no choice but to continue using him after the red card against Dortmund.
Our prediction for Real Madrid vs PSG is: PSG to win.
