The new Champions League season will see an electrifying match between defending champions PSG and Atalanta at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Wednesday.
For a long time, PSG enjoyed an upward trend of positive results and tactically impeccable football that saw them win the treble last season. However, Luis Enrique's team proved vulnerable in the Club World Cup final when Chelsea unraveled them, and they also struggled in the European Super Cup against Tottenham, despite winning on penalties.
However, PSG regained their winning form by winning four Ligue 1 matches, three of which were clean sheets, and they secured a 2-0 victory in the weekend match against Lens with two goals from Bradley Barcola, who is a talented striker valued at €71 million.
In the 2020 Champions League, a reduced edition played amid COVID-19, the only match in history between PSG and Atalanta was played. In Lisbon, the Parisians won 2-1 with goals from Marquinhos and Choupo-Moting after the 90th minute.

Luis Enrique has had a busy infirmary with players coming on and off the injury list. Marquinhos and Pacho are expected to return to the starting lineup after Luis Enrique rested them over the weekend. Fabian Ruiz, so influential in PSG's last Champions League triumph, is likely to return from injury, along with Vitinha in midfield, who had a distinguished performance against Lens.
Among the stars who will be absent are the powerful forward pair Doue and Dembélé. South Korean Lee suffered a knee injury that kept him out of Wednesday's match, and Kvaratskhelia, with a minor ankle injury, will not start.
Atalanta earned their first win in their last five matches between the start of Serie A and preseason matches on Sunday. Montenegrin Krstovic and talented midfielder De Ketelaere are expected to partner him in attack.
