The NHL is officially back, and next Tuesday night is expected to bring a spectacular show as the Florida Panthers, New York Rangers, and Los Angeles Kings will host the three opening games of the 2025/26 regular season. In this regard, Madison Square Garden is expected to put huge pressure on the Pittsburgh Penguins, a team that isn’t considered a contender to battle for playoff spots in the Metropolitan Division.

Even though, the New York Rangers faced significant difficulties during the preseason as they were only able to win one of their six games. However, it must be noted that Artemi Panarin didn’t participate in those games, but the good news is that he was announced as ready to play in the opening game against Pittsburgh. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see Mike Sullivan’s final decision regarding the players that overperformed during the preseason games.

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Penguins had a radically different performance compared to the Rangers, as they won their last five preseason games. Despite that, it must be noted that none of the participating players showed a consistent offensive performance apart from the goalies, as Tristan Jarry and Sergei Murashov’s performances were key to the positive results achieved by the Penguins.
