After claiming the No.2 spot in the West briefly, things have gone downhill for the Lakers, who dropped to No.5 with a 40-25 record after losing their last four games. LeBron James has missed the last three games due to a groin injury he suffered in the loss to Boston. With their most experienced player sidelined for at least two weeks, the Lakers are in danger of plunging further into the standings as they are in the middle of a tough stretch that pits them against elite squads such as the Milwaukee Bucks and the Denver Nuggets.
Meanwhile, the Suns have won only two of their last five games, but they were able to secure a crucial win over the Sacramento Kings, 122-106, in their last game on March 14. Phoenix badly needed the win to stay in the playoff picture with only a handful of games left in their schedule. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant scored 22 points each to lead the Suns, who converted 51 percent of their field goal attempts against Sacramento.
