I bet some of you are thinking, “Hold on…Didn’t these guys just play a few days ago? You would be right, of course. They faced each other in their respective season opener (May 17), a game the Mercury dominated, 81-59. Satou Sabally led the way with 27 points, followed by Alyssa Thomas with 20. As for Seattle, the Storm were led by Skylar Diggins with 21 points, followed by Nneka Ogwumike with 12. Seattle has since recorded its first win, 79-71 over the Dallas Wings. Nneka Ogwumike led the way with 23 points, followed by Skylar Diggins with 21 points for the second game in a row. Phoenix overcame 25 points from Kelsey Plum to beat the Sparks 89-86. Satou Sabally led the way with 25 points, followed by Alyssa Thomas with 19.
The Storm played a much better game against Dallas, but the Wings are not a strong team this season. But they’ll need a similar level of play (if not better) to compete and possibly beat the Mercury at home in Seattle.
