The Celtics continue to demonstrate why they are one of the teams to contend for the NBA title, mounting a strong comeback by winning Games 3 and 4 of the series and securing a comfortable passage to the next round of the playoffs when their series against the 76ers returns to TD Garden. There, they will enter as 11.5-point pregame favorites to win the series against Philadelphia on Tuesday.
At TD Garden, the Celtics took Game 4 by winning all four quarters and sinking 24 of 53 three-point attempts. The 76ers' perimeter defense was virtually nonexistent, and their coach, Nick Nurse, didn't hide his frustration when he said that, for the second time in this series, they had played as poorly as they possibly could. This was also the game in which Sixers star Embiid returned from appendicitis, scoring 26 points in 34 minutes.
It seems that Embiid's return overshadowed or resulted in Maxey, who was expected to be a key player on this team and had been throughout the series, seeming to relax and not dare to take many shots at the beginning of Game 4; he only attempted 3 shots in the first half. He excused himself, saying it was his fault, that it wouldn't happen again, and that he didn't do it consciously, and that it just flowed in the game.
