The No. 12 Wisconsin Badgers (23-7, 13-6) will close out the regular season at home against the Penn State Nittany Lions (15-15, 5-14) at the Kohl Center in Madison, WI. Tipoff for this Big Ten matchup is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. ET with coverage via Peacock.
At one point, it looked like Penn State was going to have a promising season. After beating Northwestern 84-80 on Jan. 2, the Nittany Lions were 12-2, but then everything went downhill from there. Starting with a loss to Indiana, Penn State lost 16 of their next 19 games. But they were competitive in their last game, a 68-64 loss to No. 16 Maryland. They led the Terrapins by six at the half, 36-30, but were outscored 38-28 in the second half. As for the Badgers, Wisconsin hit a three-game skid in December that included their first two conference games. They went on to go 13-4 the rest of the way in conference games, culminating in a 74-67 win over Minnesota in their last game. The Badgers have been one of the better offenses in the country this season, averaging 81 points per game (No. 33), and have the best free throw percentage in the country (83.4%).

The loss to Maryland was Penn State’s ninth this season by six points or less. So, had they gotten a couple of plays to go their way in those games, we could be looking at the Nittany Lions in a different light. However, since the Big Ten will only have 15 teams in its conference tournament, this will be the final game of the season for Penn State. Wisconsin is the better team by far and excellent at home this season, going 14-2. However, Penn State, while they went 1-4 outright against ranked teams, they went 4-1 ATS. It is Senior Day for the Badgers, so the emphasis may be on getting seniors playing time over winning. I still expect the Badgers to win, but I don’t think they’ll cover.
