Paula Badosa of Spain will take on the upset-minded Wang Xinyu of China in an intriguing quarterfinal duel at the 2025 Berlin Ladies Open on Friday.
Badosa pulled off a huge win over Emma Navarro of the United States to reach her second quarterfinals since returning from a back injury that had sidelined her for almost three months. The Spaniard got the better of the exchanges in the first set tiebreaker before putting on the finishing touches to get past Navarro 7-6(2) 6-3. Badosa has yet to drop a set in the tournament as she also had vanquished Eva Lys 6-1 6-3 in the first round.
Wang came through with her biggest win of the year, beating newly-crowned French Open champion Coco Gauff 6-3 6-3 in the second round. Wang conceded only one service breaks out of 9 service games played, winning 24 points on the first serves while converting 4 of 11 breakpoint chances.
