Paula Badosa of Spain will lock horns with Liudmila Samsonova of Russia in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Strasbourg International.
Badosa’s comeback trail got a boost when she earned a ticket to the quarterfinal after her opponent Marie Bouzkova retired from the match with the score tied at 3-3 in the first set. The result gave Badosa her first win after spending most of the clay-court season rehabilitating the back injury she suffered at the Miami Open in early March.
Samsonova posted a couple of strong wins over Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic, 6-1, 7-5, and Diane Parry of France, 6-4, 6-4, to reach the quarterfinal. Samsonova is another player seeking to regain her confidence after she had lost 4 of her last 5 matches prior to her participation at Strasbourg.
