Brazilian giants Palmeiras will look to confirm their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 CONMEBOL Libertadores when they host Universitario on Thursday night. Palmeiras are technically one leg into the quarters after routing their rivals 4-0 in the reverse fixture in Peru. Palmeiras were the better side throughout the night, scoring three first-half goals before Jose Manuel Lopez placed this game beyond Universitario's reach.
Universitario, meanwhile, will know that it's the end of the road for their participation in this year's edition. The Peruvians paid dearly for their lack of concentration in the first half, conceding a cheap penalty in the seventh minute. The talented Brazilians outplayed them in every aspect despite Universitario recording an impressive 47% ball possession.
