Things are starting to heat up at the FIFA Club World Cup, which has now reached the quarter-final stage. Most of the big teams remain in with a chance of being crowned as the winners of this reshaped tournament, but there are also a few less likely candidates still in the hat. One of those is Palmeiras, who are now one of two Brazilian teams left in the competition. Abel Ferreira's men will take on Chelsea of the English Premier League on Friday, when the pair will lock horns at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
There is perhaps extra motivation for the Brazilians to make it through this test. Doing so could set up what would be a fantastic semi-final against fellow Brazilian team Fluminense, who have what can be called one of the easier draws against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia. If the Blues make it through, they will face either PSG or Bayern, neither of whom will be easy to beat.

Both teams have shown decent form at the FIFA Club World Cup, there can be no denying that. The Brazilians made a low-key start to proceedings, holding Portugal's FC Porto to a tie on gameday one, before shifting through the gears a little to get the better of Al Ahly, winning by two goals to zero. Following that win came a 2-2 draw against Inter Miami, with two late goals from Paulinho and Mauricio saving the day, sending Abel Ferreira's men through to the knockouts. Against fellow Brazilians Botafogo in the Round-of-16, it was a real grind, but they got the job done eventually, edging ahead in extra time having tied 0-0 in regulation.
The Blues also needed extra time last time out, with Enzo Maresca's UEFA Conference League winners tying with Portuguese outfit Benfica. When Reece James put the London club ahead after 64 minutes, it looked as if they'd tough it out, but Angel Di Maria had other ideas, slotting from the spot in the 95th minute to force an additional 30 minutes. That merely prolonged the inevitable, though, as Chelsea's extra quality shone through, with Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scoring three quickfire goals.

For Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira, there are a few concerns. Bruno Rodrigues remains sidelined, while there will be no return for Murilo. Unfortunately, Gustavo Gomez, who picked up two yellow cards last time out against Botafogo, is suspended, meaning that there will need to be some sort of reshape at the back.
For Chelsea, there will also need to be some movement. Moises Caicedo is suspended thanks to an accumulation of yellow cards. Defender Benoit Badiashile is also out having picked up a knock last time out. Fortunately, Enzo Maresca has no other fresh concerns to deal with. Having made a difference from the bench last time out, Christopher Nkunku could be recalled to the starting XI.
