The Las Vegas Raiders (2-9 SU, 4-7 ATS) continue their march toward another lost season in Kansas City, where they face the Kansas City Chiefs (10-1 SU, 5-6 ATS). While the Chiefs have kept winning outside of a loss at Buffalo, they are clearly not the same team they were in the first month of the season. Kansas City has now seen the defense start to let down some, which has made it vulnerable to backdoor covers and put it in tighter games than expected.
Last week against Carolina was a perfect example. The Chiefs were expected to hammer the 3-8 Panthers and did exactly that in the first half. But they couldn’t put the game to bed and instead let Carolina erase a two-touchdown deficit to tie the game in the final two minutes. Kansas City survived, but it wasn’t a win to feel all that great about. The Chiefs look like a house of cards right now, and this team might be feeling the weight of being so good for so long.

It’s really not a good time to be a Raiders fan, and that’s because the defense cannot stop a nosebleed. Las Vegas has allowed at least 27 points in six of its past seven games, with the lone exception being a 20-15 loss to the Rams. The over has been almost as sure of a bet as it gets for Raider games this year, as long as the game isn’t played against a Los Angeles team. When the Raiders play someone from anywhere but the City of Angels (read: not the Rams or Chargers), the over is a staggering 8-1.
And Kansas City can put up points like nobody’s business. Yet the total is only 41.5 points, despite the Chiefs’ offense being excellent and both teams’ defenses breaking down. This could have been insurance against Aidan O’Connell starting for the Raiders, but he beat the Chiefs last year. It also could be insurance against a storm in Missouri, but it’s supposed to be clear and cold in Kansas City, with wind not making much of an impact. Even if the weather had gotten involved, the Raiders can’t stop anyone. Our prediction for Las Vegas vs. Kansas City is Over 41.5 points.
