The Blue Jays currently have a 28-28 record after a six-game road series where they were swept by the Rays but were unable to beat the Rangers in Texas. Starting Friday, they look to keep their three-game winning streak in Toronto alive, which dates back to their two-game sweep of the Padres.
The Jays are the heavy favorites to take Game 2 of the series, with odds around -180 to win it over the Athletics, who have a 23-34 record this season. Game 1 of the series saw the Jays rout the A's 12-0. The Blue Jays have increased their home run production, something they've been slow to do in MLB since the beginning, but on Thursday they were able to hit four home runs, with Bichette, Guerrero Jr., and Springer, their three stars, and Clement contributing one more. While the Blue Jays had an 18-hit game, the Athletics only managed 4. The Jays' starter, Berrios, had a spectacular game, pitching 6 innings and striking out 9.
