The Texas Rangers will start the week hosting the Athletics in a four-game series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. Game One of the series is tonight, beginning at 8:05 p.m. EST.

For the Rangers, a return home may be just what they need after a difficult road trip on the West Coast. They went 1-2 against the Athletics in Sacramento and 1-2 vs. the San Francisco Giants. Three of the four losses were by a single run, and in five of six games, they failed to score more than three runs. So, it should not be surprising to hear they only hit .225 over the last week. The pitching staff actually had the fifth-best ERA over the previous week (3.22). It just didn’t get any run support. As for the Athletics, they are coming off a homestand that saw them win both three-game series, 2-1. They scored 5+ runs in five of six games and won the sixth game in extra innings 3-2 F/10.

Texas will hand the ball to Patrick Corbin to start the day. He won his last outing, which happened to be against the Athletics, after throwing five innings and giving up seven hits, two earned runs (both solo home runs), and striking out four. The A’s will start JP Sears. Sears won his last outing, which was against Texas last week, after pitching five innings and giving up five hits, two earned runs, and a home run.
