by Lou Aguila in ATP Miami Picks
Novak Djokovic of Serbia will try to move one step closer to a record-breaking seven Miami Open men’s singles title on Friday when he battles fellow veteran Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria.
Djokovic earned his spot in the semifinal round with a 6-3 7-6(4) win over American Sebastian Korda. The Serbian dialed 83 percent of his first serves, winning 41 points. He also drilled in 11 aces while breaking Korda twice to post his fourth consecutive straight-set win. Djokovic will play his second semifinal this season and first since he retired from his final-four match with Alexander Zverev at the 2025 Australian Open.
Meanwhile, Dimitrov is eyeing a return trip to the final of the Miami Open following a gutsy three-set epic with Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina 6-7(6) 6-4 7-6(3). The Bulgarian has won six of his last seven matches during the Sunshine Double, proving he remains a force on the ATP Tour.

Our Novak Djokovic vs Grigor Dimitrov Prediction
I am going with Novak Djokovic all the way. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has showcased a full repertoire of his skills in his victory over Korda, dominating him from the baseline and baffling him with his craft volley plays. I can’t see any way Dimitrov can end his almost 12-year losing streak to Djokovic. The last time Dimitrov defeated Djokovic was in 2013 when the then-fledgling Bulgarian upset Nole 7-6(6) 6-7(8) 6-3 in the second round of the Madrid Open. This version of Djokovic is not as potent as he was during his heydays. But still, despite the effects of aging on his body, the man can play top-notch tennis and go deep in prestigious tournaments such as the Miami Open, an event he won six times in the past. And since Djokovic has yet to drop a set in this tourney, I expect another comfortable win for the former world’s No.1. Our betting prediction for Novak Djokovic vs. Grigor Dimitrov: Djokovic -4.5 Games.
