The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-8 SU, 7-6-2 ATS) visit the Duke Blue Devils (13-2 SU, 10-5 ATS) in what could be more misery for the Irish. Micah Shrewsberry’s return to South Bend hasn’t gone the way anyone had hoped so far, as the Irish have just one ACC win this season and don’t appear to be making any progress.
This past week has been especially irritating for the Irish, as they could have easily beaten both North Carolina and N.C. State but took a pair of one-point defeats. The loss to Carolina was especially galling, as Notre Dame lost by fouling a 3-point shooter and turning it into a four-point play. To date, the Irish have just two wins over power schools, and their only win over a top 100 opponent was at Georgetown.

Our Duke vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish Prediction
Based on history, Duke would seem to be the right opponent for Notre Dame to face, as Shrewsberry has a history of getting good performances out of his team against difficult foes. Last year, the Irish turned in a credible performance against the Blue Devils when their season appeared to be spinning out of control.
Based on the history of the past three weeks, though, nobody wants to face Duke right now. In its past four ACC games, the closest anyone came to the Blue Devils was Virginia Tech losing by 23. Duke hasn’t allowed any of its past seven opponents to break 65 points, and the Blue Devils own a win over Auburn. In short, this is a juggernaut playing at home and Notre Dame is a fragile team in search of momentum. That’s not a great situation for a bounce-back. Our prediction for Notre Dame vs. Duke is Duke -20.
