World Cup 2026 qualifying is in full swing, and one of the most anticipated matchups in Group I of the European zone features Norway taking on Italy this Friday at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. It’s already the third matchday for Norway, and they’ve gotten off to a perfect start. Ståle Solbakken’s squad cruised past Moldova with a 5-0 win, then followed that up with a 4-2 victory over Israel. With six points from two games, Erling Haaland and company sit atop the group.
Italy, on the other hand, has yet to play a match in this World Cup qualifying campaign. Back in March, the Azzurri were busy with the Nations League quarterfinals, where they faced Germany. Luciano Spalletti’s team came up just short of reaching the semifinals (5-4 on aggregate), but their focus now shifts fully to this new challenge. As the heavy favorite in the group, Italy is determined not to miss the World Cup for a third time in a row. They’ll be aiming to make a strong statement in their first qualifier.
