For the third World Cup in a row, the English are in the last eight. Up against the Three Lions on Saturday will be the Norwegians, who have impressed in their first World Cup appearance for 28 years. The pair will do business in Miami.
Facing the Mexicans in the Azteca was never going to be easy, but the Three Lions roared louder than their opponents, despite playing some of the contest with ten men. That effort from Thomas Tuchel’s men tells us that this is a team ready to fight and dig deep, but will they be able to deliver the goods against a Norwegian team that clearly has a lot more offensive quality than the now eliminated Mexicans?
Looking at the early lines, it’s hard not to conclude that Martin Odegaard is generously priced to register a shot on target. The Norwegian skipper has been in fine shooting form since the knockouts began, and he’ll likely be hungry for more ahead of a game against players that he’s very familiar with.

Norway - England: Form Analysis
It was always going to be interesting to see how the Norwegians fared at this World Cup. They've been quietly building over the last few years, they have some top players, while they were very impressive during qualification. Could they replicate those efforts on the biggest stage of all, though, that was the question? They’ve answered that question by delivering a string of positive performances, showing that the current crop of Norwegian internationals absolutely belong at this level. Don’t be surprised if they make this a real test for the Three Lions.

In terms of quality on paper and pure soccer, Thomas Tuchel’s men knew that they had more to offer than the Mexicans, but it was all about overcoming the occasion at the Azteca. That’s exactly what they did, showing a great mix of high-quality play and fight. Having now scored five goals in two knockout games, the Three Lions will surely fancy themselves to outscore the Norwegians, though they cannot take anything for granted and must continue to show that they really want it.

Norway & England Squad Analysis
The Norwegians have quite a settled starting XI, so the team that began the game against Brazil is expected to take to the field in Miami. Julian Ryerson was a fitness doubt ahead of that game, and if he is not 100%, Fredrik Aursnes could take his place. Andreas Schjeldrup, who came off the bench to provide two key assists against Brazil, may feel that he’s done enough to start this game, though the Benfica man will likely be used as an impact sub.

England’s first-half performance in Mexico City was strong, so it’s unlikely that head coach Thomas Tuchel will change much ahead of this game. Both Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka, who played leading creative roles in that win over the Mexicans, are expected to retain their starting positions out wide. Jarell Quansah will need to be replaced having been sent off last time out. Djed Spence, who performed well as a substitute in Mexico City, is the most likely replacement.

Our Norway vs England Prediction
Often applauded for his creative abilities, Martin Ødegaard is not someone to forget about from a shooting point of view, and the Norwegian captain looked hungry for goals against Brazil last time out, picking up some excellent positions, and it’s far from difficult to see him replicating this against an England team that will certainly not sit back.
At this World Cup, only Erling Haaland has taken more shots for Norway than Ødegaard, who is averaging 2.06 shots per 90 minutes, who has now taken seven shots in his last three games, hitting the target in that most recent game against Brazil.
Our Norway vs England Pick: Martin Ødegaard 1+ Shots on Target.
