While not the most popular game on the Week 1 college football Saturday slate, another interesting matchup will see the Northwestern Wildcats, out of the Big Ten, take on the Tulane Green Wave, out of the American Conference. Northwestern enters this game coming off another terrible season, as they finished 4-8 in 2024-2025 and 2-7 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats ended last season losing three games in a row and were 2-3 on the road over five games. Northwestern has had a losing record in three of its last four seasons, so starting this season against Tulane could spell trouble right away.

The Green Wave is favored by about a touchdown in the matchup, partly because they are at home. Further, Northwestern has been extremely inconsistent the past few seasons and should be considered a bottom-tier Big Ten team.
