The Tulane Green Wave (12-5, 3-1 American) will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today when they face the North Texas Mean Green (10-7, 1-3 American). This American Athletic Conference contest is set to get underway at 5 p.m. EST at the Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans, LA, with coverage provided by ESPN2.
When conference play got underway for Tulane, the Green Wave had a 9-4 record and a two-game win streak. They had looked competent in nonconference play but never strung together more than three wins in a row. But with a two-game streak in their pocket, Tulane rattled off three wins to open AAC play and improve to 12-4, 3-0. But then they came back down to Earth a little in their last game, a harsh loss to UAB (82-69), their first conference loss of the season. As for North Texas, the Mean Green, like Tulane, entered AAC play with a 9-4 record in nonconference action. But things did not go nearly as well for them once conference play got underway, starting with a 57-48 loss to Memphis. They followed it with a win over Tulsa but have since dropped a game to USF (74-70) and, most recently, to Wichita State (78-67) last Sunday.

North Texas has one of the best defenses in the country (No. 18, 64.5 points per game allowed) but struggles to put points on the board (No. 318, 69.6 ppg). Tulane’s offense is not good enough to out play North Texas’s defense, but the Mean Green will struggle to score on Tulane’s defense.
