Sunday's EPL menu serves up a local derby between Newcaste and Sunderland, which will take place at St. James' Park. Meeting their rivals for the second time this season, the Magpies will be looking for revenge following their 1-0 defeat at Stadium of Light back in late 2025. To improve on that result, the hosts will likely need to play much better than they did when they were humbled by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League during the week. 

Suffering a heavy defeat at Camp Nou prior to this game does not act as ideal preparation for Eddie Howe's men, who've not had as long to rest and prepare for this fixture as the Black Cats. As a result, Regis le Bris' men will surely fancy themselves to go to St. James' Park and frustrate. Will the visitors by eying up another determined and low-scoring win in this fixture? The Black Cats are all about keeping it tight, and that's exactly how they're on course to retaining their EPL spot. Under Regis le Bris, we've seen the Sunderland boys frustrate teams all season long. They did it to Newcastle earlier in the campaign, and they'll be looking to do the same here. Many teams may go into this game knowing that the hosts are coming off the back of a heavy UCL defeat and go for it, but it's incredibly hard to see Sunday's visitors doing that. 

Knowing that the visitors will prioritise defensive solidity, combined with the fact that the hosts will be tired after their midweek UCL exploits, a low-scoring game looks to be more likely than early odds of -105 would have us believe.
