A fantastic game in store in the English Premier League as Newcastle United welcome Liverpool to St James' Park. Historically, this has been a classic match and it will be intriguing to see how this one plays out. There's been changes at both clubs, though Liverpool seem much better prepared as they head into the 26/27 campaign. Both have new managers at the helm, with Andoni Iraola taking the reins at Anfield and the Magpies recently appointing Matthias Jaislle.
Preseason for Newcastle has been a little hit-and-miss. They've won one of the last six friendlies and head into their league opener on the back of two defeats to fellow EPL side Everton and French side Strasbourg. As for Liverpool, they won three and drew two of the preseason games and head into this one after beating Como 2-1. The Reds have the upper hand in meetings between the two sides, winning four and drawing one of the last six head-to-heads.
There's been plenty of changes at both clubs, with both losing a few players over the summer. These changes will likely have a bigger impact on Newcastle, who lost two of their best players in Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes. Liverpool have the much stronger squad, which is why for our prediction we think an away win is on the cards.

They've lost their midfield duo in Tonali and Guimaraes and don't have the quality in the squad to replace them. There's been plenty of changes at Liverpool, too, but they're in a much better position to challenge for a European spot than their opponents.
